Supporting Opportunistic Outcomes with Machine Learning

Planning systems are designed to predict the “most likely” number based on historical data—we will sell X cases of product ABC in store #23 this week. But often the “most likely” number isn’t the “right” number due to factors such as promotions, weather, social media, events, etc. JDA’s use of machine learning enables prescriptive analysis of many variables to create a probability curve that reflects the many opportunities available to increase revenue while protecting against overstocks and out-of-stocks.
